They are soft and porous so they can scratch or crack and because they can absorb water or chemicals if they are submerged which will cause that beautiful color play to disappear..not too worry if it’s just water you can let it air dry and the colors will come back but chemicals (even soap) will permanently damage the colors of this stone. That being said washing your hands while wearing this ring is okay but showering or swimming with it on where it’ll be exposed to shampoos,conditioners, soaps, and chlorine are not a good idea.***
